About Me

I have been a proud community resident for over 20 years, raising my family here and actively participating in various local initiatives.

I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services and have extensive experience in public health, community engagement, and policy advocacy. I work for the City of Long Beach as a Public Affairs Assistant and proud union member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM Local 1930). Previously, I served as the Director of Tobacco Programs at the Institute for Public Strategies for nearly ten years, where I oversaw upstream prevention initiatives that address alcohol, tobacco, and other drug-related harms. My work focuses on changing community norms and policies across Los Angeles County and state levels.

I’ve led initiatives to shift community norms and policies in Los Angeles County. I have managed teams, developed strategic plans, and facilitated collaborations. I’ve collaborated with stakeholders, including city officials, law enforcement, educators, and community groups, to create and implement strategies promoting healthier communities. My work also includes organizing workshops, conducting community surveys, and presenting data-driven solutions to support policy changes.

Before this, I worked as a Certified Prevention Specialist, addressing issues related to youth substance abuse, and as a Paraeducator with the Los Angeles County Office of Education, where I supported special education and at-risk students. With over 15 years of experience in advocacy and public service, I am deeply committed to promoting equity, enhancing educational opportunities, and addressing the needs of our community.

As a long-time resident and active community member, I’m deeply invested in our district’s success. My extensive experience building coalitions, facilitating community engagement, and advocating for equity equips me to serve our schools and community effectively.

I’m passionate about creating an inclusive and supportive environment where all students can thrive. My experiences as a parent, community advocate, and professional drive my commitment to serve on the school board with integrity and dedication.
